Murphy Joins England Call: Will He Don the Three Lions?

Newcastle United's Jacob Murphy continued his impressive form with a goal and an assist in a 5-0 rout of Crystal Palace, moving his side up to third in the Premier League. Murphy has now accumulated 19 goal involvements this season, a figure that matches his total from his past three campaigns combined. Harvey Barnes, Murphy's teammate, praised his performance and voiced his support for an England call-up.

Murphy, who was born in Wembley, London, has yet to receive a senior England call-up despite having a few England youth caps. The 30-year-old winger has been in outstanding form this season, tearing apart Manchester United's defense on Sunday. His connection with striker Alexander Isak has been a key factor in his success, with seven of Murphy's 11 assists this season coming for the Swede.

Murphy opened the scoring against Crystal Palace with a powerful shot that left goalkeeper Dean Henderson no chance. He created numerous chances for Isak in the first half, but the striker's poor finishing prevented him from adding to the tally. Defender Fabian Schar scored the second goal from one of Murphy's crosses, making it 4-0 before half-time.

Murphy's performance has been so impressive that he has surpassed the goal involvements of several England regulars this season, including Cole Palmer, Ollie Watkins, Phil Foden, Anthony Gordon, Marcus Rashford, Eberechi Eze, and Dominic Solanke. England manager Thomas Tuchel was reportedly watching Murphy as he tormented Manchester United's defense.

Murphy's goal against Crystal Palace was a result of a shot that some may suspect was intended as a cross. After the game, Murphy admitted that he meant it, stating, "When the juice is flowing, you've just got to hit it."

With his impressive form, Murphy's name has been circulating in discussions for an England call-up. Barnes, who has been playing alongside him, has even started a petition for the winger to be included in the squad.
