Aston Villa have announced plans to expand Villa Park's capacity by redeveloping the North Stand, increasing it from approximately 5,000 to 12,000 seats. This will bring the total capacity to over 50,000 once minor updates to the other stands are completed. The renovation aims to be finished by the second half of 2027 without compromising current matchday capacity. Aston Villa's President of Business Operations, Chris Heck, believes the expansion will offer a better experience to more fans while preserving the stadium's historical significance. In 2028, Villa Park will host the Euro tournament. Phil McNulty, BBC Sport's chief football writer, suggests that the expansion shows the ambition of the club's owners, who have invested in the team under manager Unai Emery, helping them reach the Champions League quarter-finals and maintain momentum.
