In a daunting test for Everton manager David Moyes, the Toffees travel to Premier League leaders Liverpool on Wednesday, having never won at Anfield during his 21-game tenure. Moyes' side are 36 points behind Liverpool, which is the biggest gap before a Merseyside derby that he has been involved in. A look at the history books shows this is only the sixth time the difference has been in double figures. Moyes' Everton have actually been ahead of Liverpool before eight of those 19 derbies, with them level going into both derbies in 2010/11. Liverpool lead Everton by the same 36-point margin as last season, and financially, the gulf is also significant, with Everton's squad costing approximately £200m compared to Liverpool's £550m. Moyes' 19 Premier League games without a win at Anfield is also the longest any manager has gone in the competition without victory at the ground. Everton have shown improvement since Moyes' return, going unbeaten in all but one game since January, and although they drew with Liverpool in their last meeting, Moyes will be hoping to end his Anfield curse.
