De Bruyne Stunned by Absence of Man City Contract Extension Talks

Manchester City's Kevin de Bruyne

In an unexpected turn of events, Manchester City's departing captain Kevin de Bruyne expressed his surprise at not receiving a new contract offer from the club. De Bruyne, who joined City from Wolfsburg in 2015 and has won 16 trophies, including six Premier League titles, admitted he has not received any contract offers this year. Despite the decision, De Bruyne has not ruled out staying in the Premier League, hinting at possible interest in Major League Soccer in the United States. He suggested the club's struggles this season may have played a role in the decision, although a 2-0 win at Everton has boosted their hopes of securing a Champions League spot next season. De Bruyne, who has been plagued by injuries, has started only 19 matches this term. City host Aston Villa in their next match on Tuesday before facing Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup semi-finals at Wembley on 27 April.
