Elanga's Resurgence Fuels Forest's Title Dreams

Anthony Elanga's incredible 70-yard goal lifted Nottingham Forest to a 1-0 victory over Manchester United, maintaining their pursuit of the Champions League and extending their lead over Newcastle in sixth to 10 points. Elanga, who joined Forest in 2023, refused to celebrate against his old club, showing his respect. After the game, he praised his teammates and expressed his desire to keep improving.

Elanga's performance drew praise from Forest captain Ryan Yates and manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who had never seen such a goal. Elanga currently has six goals and eight assists for Forest, placing him seventh in the Premier League for goal contributions.

Elanga was previously with Manchester United, where he made 55 appearances, scoring four goals, but was eventually released by Erik ten Hag. Since joining Forest, Elanga has been more productive, with 27 goal contributions compared to United's Alejandro Garnacho (16), Marcus Rashford (14), and Amad Diallo (14).

Ruben Amorim, current United boss, downplayed the fact that Elanga was allowed to leave, stating that the pressure at United is too big for young players to develop properly.

This victory marks an important step for Forest as they prepare for an FA Cup semi final against Manchester City and aim to secure a spot in the Champions League with eight games remaining in the season.
