
Gabriel, Arsenal's top-performing defender, will miss the rest of the 2021-2022 season due to hamstring surgery. The Brazilian player was substituted during the first half of Arsenal's 2-1 win against Fulham at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday. Gabriel has started 28 out of 30 Premier League games this season, contributing significantly to Arsenal's best defensive record with 25 goals conceded. The 27-year-old is aiming to return for the start of the 2022-2023 season. Arsenal currently sit second in the Premier League, 12 points behind leaders Liverpool with eight matches remaining. In the Champions League, Arsenal will face Real Madrid in the quarter-finals, with the first match taking place on 8 April and the second on 16 April.
