Leicester City's Relegation Battle: Time for a Rebuild

Leicester have been relegated

Leicester City have been relegated from the Premier League after a 1-0 loss to Liverpool, with Trent Alexander-Arnold scoring the decisive goal in the second half. The Foxes have struggled all season with two managers, four wins, and no home league goals for almost five months. Despite the arrival of Ruud van Nistelrooy and his attempts to improve standards and culture, Leicester have won just four points since December and scored just six times in the league since a draw with Brighton on 8 December, equaling their club-record run of defeats (eight). The relegation follows a calamitous season after last year's Championship triumph, with unhappy and disconnected fans, players accused of giving up, and a manager in Van Nistelrooy who, despite his pedigree as a player, has seen the Foxes get worse on his watch. The club now faces a rebuild and must make big decisions regarding the future of director of football Jon Rudkin, head of recruitment Martyn Glover, and Van Nistelrooy's position.
