Norwich Part Ways with Thorup; Wilshere Steps in as Interim Manager

Johannes Hoff Thorup and Jack Wilshere

Norwich City has terminated the contract of head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup after a disappointing run of six losses in eight Championship games. The team is currently 14th in the table, 13 points away from the play-off places, following back-to-back losses over the Easter weekend. Thorup, who joined the club in May 2024, won only 14 out of 47 games during his tenure. His assistant, Glen Riddersholm, has also parted ways with the club.

In light of these poor results, sporting director Ben Knapper has placed Jack Wilshere in temporary charge for the remaining two games of the season. Wilshere, a former Arsenal and England midfielder, will be assisted by Tony Roberts and Nick Stanley.

In a statement, Knapper thanked Thorup and Riddersholm for their efforts and wished them well for their future careers. Thorup had acknowledged the team's struggles in a recent interview, stating that there was no short-term solution and that the club was focusing on long-term improvements.
