Salah and Liverpool: A winning partnership that continues to thrive'

Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool forward, has signed a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2027. The Egyptian, who was close to leaving on a free transfer this summer, had been linked with top European clubs and the Saudi Pro League. Salah's form and fitness have made him a special case, and his new deal shows that Liverpool is willing to bend its "Moneyball" philosophy, which usually avoids lucrative deals for over-30s.

The agreement extends the love affair between Salah and Liverpool, which began in 2017 when he scored on his debut against Watford. Since then, he has become an Anfield icon, scoring 243 goals in 394 games for the Reds, placing him third in their all-time scorers list. Salah's new contract comes after a season in which he has already scored 27 Premier League goals, making him the leading scorer this term.

Arne Slot, Liverpool's head coach, will be pleased to have Salah in the team as they aim for the 20th title and continue their pursuit of major honours. Salah's decision to stay was influenced by the management of Slot and Liverpool's ambition to remain a dominant force in the Premier League.
