17-year-old Spanish winger Lamine Yamal has signed a new six-year contract with Barcelona, extending his stay at the club until 2031. The breakout star, who made his Barca debut at 15, played a key role in the club's domestic treble last season under manager Hansi Flick.
Yamal scored 18 goals and made 25 assists in 55 appearances, becoming the youngest scorer in the history of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. His performances have drawn comparisons with Barca legend Lionel Messi, who also came through the club's La Masia academy.
Barca president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco were present for the contract signing, which took place on Tuesday. The club praised Yamal's emergence on the global stage and his contributions to Barca's history.
Yamal has already earned 19 caps for Spain and was part of the side that won Euro 2024, defeating England 2-1 in the final in Berlin. He has also made 115 appearances for Barca, becoming the youngest player to reach 100 appearances for the club.
In addition to extending Yamal's contract, Barcelona has also recently renewed the deals of manager Flick and Brazil forward Raphinha.
