Lineker Exits BBC Ahead of Schedule Amid Antisemitism Controversy

Gary Lineker, the former England striker and long-standing BBC football presenter, has confirmed he will leave the broadcaster after the current season, following a row over an antisemitic social media post. Lineker had been due to continue presenting Match of the Day and other major events, but after facing criticism for sharing a post containing an image historically used as an antisemitic insult, he announced he would step down from further presenting duties after this season. In a statement, the BBC's director general Tim Davie thanked Lineker for his service and contributions, while Lineker himself expressed regret and apologized for the upset caused. Lineker has been a defining figure in football coverage for the BBC for over two decades and will be missed by many.
