Spurs Trio Await Winner's Medal After Thrilling Clash

Son Heung-min lifts the Europa League trophy into the air alongside his Tottenham team-mates

In an unexpected oversight, Uefa failed to provide enough medals for Tottenham's Europa League-winning squad during the trophy ceremony. As a result, key players, including captain Son Heung-min, Cristian Romero, and Rodrigo Bentancur, were left waiting for their winner's medals until they reached the dressing room. Uefa had initially prepared 30 medals for distribution, but the number of participants included injured players and staff, causing the shortage. According to Uefa's rules, both teams receive 50 medals each, and it is up to the club to distribute them among players and staff. Despite the mix-up, Son finally received his first winner's medal in his senior career.
