Chelsea's season has been hampered by a lack of quality finishing, resulting in only 10 goals from striker Nicolas Jackson in 30 league games. The club missed out on signing Victor Osimhen last summer due to wage demands and could not find a suitable alternative. However, Chelsea remain happy with the £31m deal that brought Jackson to the club. The team's campaign is now ending early due to Jackson's red card against Newcastle. Chelsea are confident they will sign a new striker this summer, with Victor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap, Hugo Ekitike, and even Osimhen under consideration. The race to sign a striker is intense, with Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris St-Germain also in the market. Chelsea are also looking to sign a right-footed left winger, with Alejandro Garnacho, Jamie Gittens, and Morgan Rogers on their radar. They are also interested in Bournemouth's Dean Huijsen as a central defender, but Real Madrid are his favored option. The Blues are not guaranteed to bring in a defender, having already signed Mamadou Sarr from partner club RC Strasbourg. Chelsea have an acceptance that their squad lacks natural leaders, with only Levi Colwill and potentially Enzo Fernandez fitting the bill. The club will "for sure" look to bring in experienced players to close the gap with champions Liverpool. Chelsea have already signed a host of young players this season, including winger Estevao Willian, attacking midfielder Kendry Paez, goalkeeper Mike Penders, and defensive midfielder Dario Essugo, for fees totalling over £150m. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez is under scrutiny for making five mistakes leading to goals, but Chelsea maintain trust in him and believe they have promising alternatives. Contract renewals and player sales will be evaluated after the Conference League final and possible Champions League qualification. Players such as Trevoh Chalobah, Christopher Nkunku, Ben Chilwell, Carney Chukwuemeka, Armando Broja, Axel Disasi, Kepa Arrizabalga, Joao Felix, Renato Veiga, and Raheem Sterling could be sold to avoid creating unrest when signings in attack and defence are added.
