Club World Cup Finances Fueling Man City and Chelsea's Summer Transfer Spree

Rayan Ait-Nouri and Liam Delap

Manchester City and Chelsea are set to earn a significant amount of money from participating in the Fifa Club World Cup, with the potential prize pot totalling £92 million if they win the tournament. Both teams have already secured prize money of roughly £37.8 million and £36.3 million respectively, with further earnings possible as they progress in the competition. The prize money is calculated based on participation fees, group stage wins and draws, and progression through the knockout stages. The English teams' earnings could potentially pay off transfer fees for some of their recent signings, such as Liam Delap and Rayan Ait-Nouri, with City's potential winnings even surpassing the transfer fee for some of their other recent acquisitions. The prize money offered at the Club World Cup is significantly higher than that of other competitions, such as the Champions League and Premier League, with City earning more from winning the Club World Cup than it would take 24 FA Cup victories to accumulate.
