Lauren James, a key Chelsea and England forward, is set to return from a three-month hamstring injury layoff in a friendly against Jamaica on Sunday, five days before England’s Euro 2025 opener. Sarina Wiegman, the England coach, confirmed James will come off the bench, having impressed in training sessions with her ability to handle and recover from loads. James played a significant role in England's run to the 2023 Women’s World Cup final, scoring three goals and providing three assists. Jess Carter, an England defender, expressed excitement over James's return, noting her sharpness and ability to give opponents trouble. Carter, who plays for Gotham FC, is also aiming to break into Wiegman’s starting XI, acknowledging the high competition within the squad.
