Rangers Need Early Wins: Martin Cautious on Promises

Russell Martin

Russell Martin, a former Scotland defender, has been appointed as the new head coach of Rangers FC on a three-year contract. The 39-year-old, who had a brief stint as a player at Ibrox, was the standout choice for the club after a prolonged recruitment process. Martin emphasized the need for immediate success and improvement in all areas. He revealed that he had a few opportunities after leaving Southampton but chose Rangers due to the expectation, size of the club, and his desire to prove himself after not performing to his potential as a player at Ibrox. The new coaching setup at Rangers includes assistant Matt Gill and performance coach Rhys Owen. Martin's teams are known for dominant football, pressing aggressively, and imposing themselves physically. Rangers finished last season trophyless and in second place in the Premiership. Martin's win record as a manager is 37.5% at MK Dons, 36.4% at Swansea City, and 45.2% at Southampton.
