Scotland's 3-1 defeat to Iceland in a friendly match saw debutant goalkeeper Cieran Slicker endure a nightmare night. After replacing the injured Angus Gunn just six minutes in, Slicker conceded a goal less than a minute later when he took a panicked slash at a Kieran Tierney pass back. The second Iceland goal came from a dreadful Scotland defensive effort, with Slicker failing to scramble the ball off his line after it ricocheted towards goal off Lewis Ferguson. The third goal was caused by a Victor Palsson header that burst through Slicker's arms. Slicker, signed by Ipswich Town from Manchester City in 2023, has struggled for playing time and made just 10 minutes of league action last season. Scotland head coach Steve Clarke admitted the young goalkeeper was not ready for the international stage and may not play again in the next friendly against Liechtenstein. Eligible through his Scottish father, Slicker has 17 caps at under-21 level for Scotland.
