Who Made Early Moves in Mini Transfer Window, Despite £400m Spending Spree?

Liam Delap

In a bid to bolster their squads for the Fifa Club World Cup, Chelsea and Manchester City have been the most active Premier League clubs this summer, splashing out over £120 million in initial fees. Chelsea have signed Liam Delap (£30 million), Dario Essugo (£18.5 million), Mamadou Sarr (£12 million), and Estevao Willian (£29 million), while Manchester City have acquired Rayan Ait-Nouri (£31 million) from Wolves, Marcus Bettinelli (free transfer from Chelsea), and Rayan Cherki (£30.45 million from Lyon). Manchester United, not competing in the Club World Cup, have made the most expensive move yet, spending £62.5 million on Wolves forward Matheus Cunha. Real Madrid, participating in the Club World Cup, have also made a significant move by activating Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen's release clause for £50 million. Borussia Dortmund have signed Jobe Bellingham (£27.8 million) from Sunderland, while Liverpool have replaced Trent Alexander-Arnold with Jeremie Frimpong (from Bayer Leverkusen), and Everton have made Carlos Alcaraz's loan move from Flamengo permanent. Sunderland have broken their transfer record by signing French midfielder Enzo le Fee for £19 million following his loan spell from Roma.
