Sarina Wiegman

England manager Sarina Wiegman has reassured fans that there is no crisis within the Lionesses, despite the recent retirements of goalkeeper Mary Earps and midfielder Fran Kirby, as well as defender Millie Bright's withdrawal from selection for Euro 2025. Wiegman, who will be without these players due to their focus on their mental and physical wellbeing, named a 23-player squad for the tournament. Wiegman expressed her disappointment at the loss of these key players but said she is happy with the atmosphere within the team. She also addressed the increased scrutiny on her decisions, including her handling of performance-related bonuses and the omission of former captain Steph Houghton from Euro 2022.
