Fuming' Watkins Unleashes Dynamic Performance Fueled by Anger

Ollie Watkins celebrates scoring for Aston Villa against Newcastle United

Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins, who has now equaled Gabriel Agbonlahor's club record of 74 Premier League goals, expressed his frustration over being a substitute in both of Villa's Champions League quarter-final ties against Paris St-Germain. The 29-year-old, however, made his mark in Villa's 4-1 win over Newcastle, scoring inside the opening minute and setting up another. Watkins' impressive performance, which included tireless runs, fine hold-up play, and continual pressing, has increased speculation about his future at the club, with Villa rejecting a £40m bid from Arsenal in January. Villa manager Unai Emery, when asked about Watkins' comments, replied that it was "fantastic" for the striker to be angry and play like he did against Newcastle. Watkins' goal against Newcastle means he is the first Villa player to score 15 or more times in three consecutive Premier League seasons and since the start of last season, he has both scored and assisted in eight Premier League games, with only Liverpool's Mohamed Salah doing so on more occasions.
