Onana Set to Lead Man Utd in Lyon Clash - Amorim Confirms

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has confirmed that goalkeeper Andre Onana will return to the starting lineup for the Red Devils' Europa League quarter-final second leg against Lyon on Thursday. Onana was benched for Sunday's Premier League game against Newcastle, with Altay Bayindir deputizing, after being criticized by former player Nemanja Matic and labelled one of the worst goalkeepers in the club's history following two goals conceded in the first leg against Lyon. Amorim, however, defended the Cameroon international, stating that the decision to bench him was part of managing Onana both physically and mentally. He also praised Onana's ability, saying that he deserves to return to the starting XI. Defender Harry Maguire backed Onana, stating that he has proven himself to be an excellent goalkeeper in the past and will want to show everyone his abilities.

Manchester United will be without Joshua Zirzkee for the rest of the season due to a hamstring injury sustained against Newcastle. The Dutchman's absence is a significant blow to United's hopes of winning the Europa League and securing a spot in next season's Champions League. Netherlands international Matthijs de Ligt and defender Ayden Heaven are also doubts for the game against Lyon, with de Ligt missing training and Heaven suffering a small setback. Defender Jonny Evans and goalkeeper Tom Heaton, both long-term absentees, returned to training on Wednesday.
