Lessons from PSG defeat: Arteta's Arsenal insights

Martin Odegaard puts his head in his hands on a frustrating night

In the first leg of the Champions League semi-final, Arsenal suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Paris St. Germain. Mikel Arteta's side had chances through Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard but struggled to find a goal against the dominant French side, who took the lead in the fourth minute thanks to an Ousmane Dembele strike. The game saw Arsenal miss the injured Thomas Partey, with Mikel Merino dropping into his natural midfield position and Declan Rice moving deeper to a number six role. PSG's Khvicha Kvaratskhelia caused problems for defender Jurrien Timber, who looked more comfortable in the second half as Arsenal gained possession. Arsenal will look to mount a comeback in next week's second leg, with Arteta optimistic about their chances.
