QPR Manger, Cifuentes, Put on Gardening Leave

QPR manager Marti Cifuentes

Queens Park Rangers (QPR) have placed manager Marti Cifuentes on gardening leave, effective immediately, ahead of this Saturday's Championship match against Sunderland (12:30 BST). Assistant coaches Kevin Betsy and Xavi Calm will take charge of the first-team on an interim basis. QPR chief executive Christian Nourry stated that the decision was made with the intention of resolving the matter expeditiously so preparations can commence for the future. The move comes after QPR suffered a 5-0 defeat to Burnley on Saturday, finishing the season in 15th place. Cifuentes, appointed in October 2023, steered QPR to an 18th-place finish last season but has been linked with a departure from Loftus Road after a mixed season, with West Brom reportedly interested.
