Crystal Palace's impressive 16-game unbeaten run, including a five-game win streak, has revitalized their Premier League campaign and put them in the FA Cup semi-finals. The Eagles, currently in 12th place, recently drew 1-1 at Southampton, ending their away winning streak at six games without conceding.
Head coach Oliver Glasner attributes their initial slow start to several factors, such as key players being involved in major tournaments, late signings, and the departure of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich.
The recovery of midfielder Adam Wharton, who joined Palace in February 2024 and played a crucial role in their late-season success last year, has also been a significant factor. Wharton, 21, suffered a groin injury at the beginning of this season that required surgery and kept him out for two months, missing 14 Premier League games.
Wharton expressed his satisfaction with his progress since his return, although he is still not at his full fitness level. He believes the team's confidence and togetherness would continue to grow as they strive to improve.
The midfielder has produced several standout performances recently, earning him a spot in England's Euro 2024 squad. England manager Gareth Southgate praised Wharton's forward-thinking game, stating that England had been missing such a player for seven or eight years.
Wharton, who was also involved in the England Under-21s squad during the recent international break, trained with the senior squad under new England manager Thomas Tuchel, who has been a frequent observer at Selhurst Park.
