Antony's Rise to Hero Status at Betis Following Man Utd Disappointment

Antony celebrates a goal for Real Betis

In a light-hearted display, Real Betis players have joked about kidnapping loan star Antony from Manchester United, as the Brazilian has transformed the Spanish club's season. Since joining in January, Antony has helped Betis move up to sixth in La Liga and secure a spot in the Europa League. He has also been instrumental in taking them to their first European final, against Chelsea in the Conference League on Wednesday in Wroclaw, Poland. In 25 matches since his loan move, Betis have won 13 and drawn eight, losing only four, with Antony directly contributing to 14 goals. The 25-year-old scored a free-kick in the semi-final victory over Fiorentina and created the decisive goal for Abde Ezzalzouli. Spanish football expert Guillem Balague praises Antony, calling him a hero in Betis, and says he has taken the team to another level. However, he suggests that Betis may not be able to keep Antony due to the transfer fee United would demand. The Brazilian was struggling at United, with off-field issues affecting his form, and was the subject of a police investigation. He admitted to feeling unhappy and unable to play with his son, but is now content at Betis.
