Championship Decider: Team Needs to Secure Title on Final Day

Coventry boss Frank Lampard and Hull City's Ruben Selles

The Championship season comes to a dramatic close on Saturday as nine teams battle for survival and a place in the play-offs. In the relegation battle, Plymouth (23rd, 46 points) need to beat Leeds United to stand any chance, but are effectively down barring a miracle. Hull City (22nd, 48 points) can secure their spot by winning at Portsmouth, but if they draw and Luton lose, they will go down. Luton (21st, 49 points) will stay up if they win at West Bromwich Albion or if Hull lose. Preston (20th, 49 points) can survive if they win at Bristol City or if Hull lose. Derby (19th, 49 points) will secure their Championship status if they win at home to Stoke or if Hull lose. Stoke (18th, 50 points) will stay up if they avoid defeat at Derby.

In the play-off chase, Middlesbrough (9th, 64 points) must win at Coventry to stand any chance of reaching the play-offs. Blackburn (8th, 65 points) need to win at Sheffield United to stand any chance. Millwall (7th, 66 points) realistically need to win at Burnley to stand any chance. Coventry (6th, 66 points) will finish in a play-off spot if they beat Middlesbrough. Bristol City (5th, 67 points) will secure a play-off spot if they beat Preston at home, but a draw could be enough if results go their way.

Leeds United and Burnley are locked in a tight title race. Burnley (2nd, 97 points) need to better Leeds' result to win the Championship. Leeds (1st, 97 points) will be crowned champions if they match Burnley's result, barring the unlikely scenario in which both sides win and the Clarets overhaul a 13-goal margin on goal difference.
