Everton Moves Forward with Plans to Revamp Goodison Park for Women's Team

Everton FC is making adjustments to Goodison Park, their 133-year-old stadium, to accommodate their women's team starting next season. The initial plans for demolishing Goodison Park have been scrapped, and the stadium will now serve as a venue for both the men's and women's teams. To make the stadium more intimate, Everton will close some upper tiers, reducing the current capacity of 39,572. Seats bought by supporters as souvenirs will be replaced, and the number of seats in each row will be reduced to create extra space.

The women's team currently averages 2,062 attendees at their current home, Walton Hall Park. Everton is keen to increase this number and create a more intimate atmosphere at Goodison Park. The Main Stand's top balcony, the Upper Bullens Road Stand, and the upper tier of the Howard Kendall Gwladys Street End will not be in use but will be branded for the women's team.

The club had earlier offered season ticket holders and hospitality members the opportunity to buy the seat they have used in the 2024-25 season as a permanent souvenir of Goodison Park. This plan will proceed, with the seats bought replacing those in areas that will be occupied by supporters for women's matches.

Previously, under owner Farhad Moshiri, Everton had announced plans for an £82m post-demolition renovation project on the Goodison site, which included housing, a care home, retail units, and a park. However, the club's takeover by the Friedkin Group in December led to a feasibility study into the possibility of maintaining the stadium as a home for the women's team. After deliberation, the club has opted to continue operating the site.
