Real Madrid are set to sign Bournemouth center-back Dean Huijsen after agreeing to pay his £50 million release clause. The 20-year-old Spain international, who had seven offers on the table, is close to agreeing personal terms with the La Liga club. The transfer fee will be paid in three installments, with previous clubs Juventus (10%) and Malaga (5%) receiving a portion of the fee. Huijsen had attracted interest from Premier League clubs Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Newcastle but has chosen Real Madrid, returning to Spain where he grew up. Bournemouth will quadruple their initial outlay on Huijsen once the move is completed. Xabi Alonso, set to replace Carlo Ancelotti as Real manager, has played a key role in the signing. Huijsen made his international debut for Spain, managed by Luis de la Fuente, in March 2025.
