Liverpool Set to Trigger Jeremie Frimpong's 35m EUR Release Clause for Summer Signing

Senior football correspondent Sami Mokbel reports that Liverpool are closing in on their first summer signing, with Jeremie Frimpong, the 24-year-old Netherlands international from Bayer Leverkusen, in their sights. Frimpong's release clause is said to be around 35m euros (£29.5m), and Liverpool are poised to meet that sum.

The deal would help fill the void left by Trent Alexander-Arnold's impending move to Real Madrid. Frimpong, who has played for Manchester City (youth ranks) and Celtic, could potentially replace Alexander-Arnold at right-back. The Dutchman has made 53 appearances across all competitions this season, playing a crucial role in Leverkusen's historic 2024 Bundesliga title win.

If the transfer materializes, it could be a significant boost for Liverpool as they prepare for the 2025-26 season.
