Three Key Players Return for England's National Team Roster

Lauren Hemp, Alex Greenwood and Georgia Stanway

Sarina Wiegman welcomes key trio back to England squad for Women's Nations League matches against Portugal (30 May) and Spain (2 June), boosting their chances in the Euro 2025 tournament. Lauren Hemp, Georgia Stanway, and Alex Greenwood, all returning from knee injuries, have been named in the squad for the first time this year. Hemp, Manchester City's leading assist provider, has not played for England since October but finished the Women's Super League (WSL) campaign with eight assists. Greenwood, City's captain, has missed England's last four matches but started November's 0-0 draw with the United States and came on as a substitute in the 4-3 defeat against Germany in October before her injury. Both players have returned to City's starting lineup in April. Stanway, Bayern Munich midfielder, has yet to return for her club but Wiegman is eager to give her more training time. Chelsea forward Lauren James is still absent due to a hamstring injury. Ella Morris from Tottenham Hotspur and Missy Bo Kearns from Aston Villa have been called up from the Under-23s squad. Striker Michelle Agyemang, who scored a stunning goal 41 seconds into her debut in April, retains her place in the squad. Lucy Parker, Manchester United centre-back Millie Turner, and Brighton midfielder Maisie Symonds have been left out.
