Keith Andrews, a former Republic of Ireland midfielder, has been appointed as the new head coach of Premier League club Brentford following Thomas Frank's departure to Tottenham. This makes Andrews the 98th permanent managerial appointment by a Premier League club since 2015, but only the sixth to be a first-time manager. The appointment is seen as a risk due to lack of experience, but also refreshing as it continues Brentford's policy of promoting from within. Andrews has previously worked as an assistant coach for Stephen Kenny for both the under-21 and senior Republic of Ireland national teams, and as a set-piece coach at Sheffield United and Brentford. He has made an impact at Brentford, with 14 of their 66 Premier League goals in the 2024-25 season coming from set-pieces, and the fewest goals conceded from set-pieces (3) in the league last season. Brentford's first Premier League game of the 2025-26 season is at Nottingham Forest on 17 August.
