Arsenal are in talks to sign 20-year-old Spanish defender Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia, with the player emerging as their preferred choice for a defensive signing this summer. The Gunners have also shown interest in Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace, but the England international may be hesitant to join due to potential limited opportunities with the current defensive lineup.
If negotiations are successful, Mosquera, who has made 90 appearances for Valencia and played 90 minutes in 37 of the club's 38 La Liga games last season, will join Arsenal. The London-based club is also on the verge of completing a move for Brentford midfielder Christian Norgaard, with a fee worth up to £15million agreed, and the Denmark international set to undergo a medical. Arsenal are also expected to complete the signing of goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.
On a separate note, Arsenal's 18-year-old full-back Myles Lewis-Skelly signed a five-year deal at Emirates Stadium, having made 39 appearances for the team last season. Gabriel, another defender, also signed a long-term contract earlier this month.
