Manchester City on the brink of signing Wolves' Rayan Ait-Nouri for £31m. The 24-year-old Algeria international is set to have a medical this weekend, with the deal set to be concluded before the Club World Cup. City have been struggling with a left-back void since Benjamin Mendy's departure, with Oleksandr Zinchenko, Joao Cancelo, and Josko Gvardiol taking turns in the position. Ait-Nouri, who joined Wolves in 2021, made 41 appearances last season, scoring five goals and adding seven assists. He delivered more goal involvements than any other Premier League defender last term and created more chances for team-mates to score than all but three defenders. Former Wolves coach Edu Rubio believes Ait-Nouri's technical competency and ability in tight areas make him a perfect fit for Pep Guardiola's possession-based play. He will need to improve his decision-making and end product in attack at City.
