Keating Cleared of Assault Charges: England Goalkeeper's Legal Drama Resolved

Khiara Keating

England goalkeeper Khiara Keating, 20, has had her court case dropped over charges of possessing nitrous oxide, a Class C drug, nearly a year after the incident occurred. The charge was dropped following an investigation by Greater Manchester Police. Keating, who is part of England's 23-player squad for Euro 2025, became the youngest player to win the Women's Super League Golden Glove award last year, after keeping nine clean sheets in 22 league games. In a statement to BBC Sport, Keating expressed her relief and stated that she did nothing wrong. Nitrous oxide was made a Class C drug under the Misuse of Drugs Act in November 2023, but it is still possible to use the gas for legitimate reasons, such as in catering or pain relief during labour.
