Norwich Taps Manning as New Head Coach, Following Departure from Bristol City

Liam Manning

Norwich City have appointed Liam Manning as their new head coach on a four-year contract, replacing Johannes Hoff Thorup who was sacked in April. Manning led Bristol City to this season's play-offs but lost to Sheffield United. He was born in Norwich and has coaching experience at West Ham, Lommel, MK Dons, Oxford United, and Bristol City. Manning guided Bristol City to their first play-off finish in 17 years despite having the smallest squad in the Championship. Norwich finished 13th in 2024-25, 11 points outside the play-offs, and are set to embark on their fourth season in the Championship since relegation from the Premier League in 2022. The Canaries have paid an undisclosed sum to meet a release clause to bring Manning in. Manning's long-term friend and assistant coach Chris Hogg, as well as first-team analyst James Krause, are expected to join him at Norwich.
