Liverpool's full-back duo, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson, have called time on their eight-year partnership at Anfield. With Alexander-Arnold joining Real Madrid and Robertson linked with a move away, the Reds are set to field a new full-back pairing. The pair, who played 279 games together since Robertson's arrival in 2017, have been a crucial part of Liverpool's success, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FA Cup, and two League Cups. They are the top two assisting Premier League defenders ever, with 64 for Alexander-Arnold and 60 for Robertson, and are among the top 10 creators of chances in all positions since 2017-18.
Alexander-Arnold and Robertson averaged 35 games a season together, with Robertson playing more games with Mohamed Salah. They created nearly unprecedented numbers of goals, each assisting more than 40 times in Premier League history. In 2019-20, they assisted 25 goals between them.
Iconic full-back partnerships throughout history include Roberto Carlos and Cafu (Brazil), Paolo Maldini and Mauro Tassotti (AC Milan), Denis Irwin and Gary Neville (Man Utd), and Marcelo and Dani Carvajal (Real Madrid).
