Amorim Urges United Solidarity as Club Faces daunting Obstacles Amidst Internal Discord'

Ruben Amorim won seven Premier League games as Manchester United head coach after replacing Erik ten Hag in November

Manchester United finished the 2022-23 Premier League season in 15th place, a disappointing performance for the club. In his end-of-season address to fans, interim head coach Ruben Amorim acknowledged the "disaster" season and promised better days ahead. However, he also warned about the need for unity amid growing discontent among fans, who have been vocal in their criticism of the club's American owners, the Glazer family, and minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

Amorim tried to explain his comments about moving forward and sticking together, stating that there is no single reason for the team's poor performance. He emphasized the need for unity within the club and the fans. Despite the need for changes due to Premier League regulations, Amorim cautioned against excessive spending.

The match against Aston Villa, United's first home win since February, ended in a 2-0 victory. The team had numerous opportunities to score, with 25 shots and 10 on target, but only managed to convert one penalty in the 76th minute. The team's inability to convert chances was a recurring issue throughout the season, causing frustration for Amorim.

Key players such as Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen, and Jonny Evans were acknowledged for their contributions and will be leaving the club when their contracts expire on 30 June. The departure of these players is expected to be the first in a series of changes before the transfer window closes on 1 September.

There were also reports that Alejandro Garnacho, a highly-rated young forward, may be leaving the club this summer after being omitted from the matchday squad for the final game of the season.
