Vardy to Bid Farewell to Leicester in Sunday's Match

Jamie Vardy salutes the crowd

In the final game of the Premier League season, Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy will make his 500th appearance for the club, facing relegated Ipswich Town on Sunday, May 22nd, at King Power Stadium. With this match, Vardy, 38, aims to score his 200th goal for Leicester, currently standing at 199 in all competitions. The club announced this will be Vardy's last game for Leicester, who joined from non-league side Fleetwood Town in 2012 for £1m.

Vardy is Leicester's record Premier League scorer with 144 goals and has scored 199 goals in 499 appearances in all competitions. He played a crucial role in Leicester's historic 2015-16 Premier League-winning campaign, scoring 24 goals, and helped the team reach the Champions League quarter-finals the following season.

Vardy also won the FA Cup in 2021, as Leicester defeated Chelsea in the final, securing their first FA Cup victory in their history. Despite his contributions, Leicester was unable to avoid relegation this season. Vardy has scored nine goals in the current campaign.

Leicester City plans to celebrate Vardy's legacy, encouraging fans to arrive early and stay late to salute the former England international. This decision allows Vardy to end his career at King Power Stadium, rather than at the season's final game against Bournemouth.
